How to set up your own home Hot Tub
So you've purchased your new hot tub and you want to jump in and enjoy a cold beer, but first you have to install it, so where do you begin? Firstly, decide on a location, ideally one with a bit of shelter to ensure privacy and so you can still enjoy it if it rains. You will also need to make sure it is on a sturdy base, one that will able to support the weight of over 5000lbs of water (as well as the inhabitants). Also, you will need to make
sure it is near a power outlet so you can run it.
It helps to have some basic plumbing and electricity skills when installing your hot tub so as to avoid potential accidents, but it should be easy enough to set up. It helps if the location of your hot tub is near your home's water pipes, so that you can easily connect the system's heater and pumps to the spa. Any further away then 50 feet from the main pipes, and you may experience a significant loss in pressure.
Most hot tubs also need a 240V electrical power supply in order to run it, so you may need an extension cord in order to heat and power your spa. Some hot tubs may run on gas to heat it, but it is recommended this is done by a professional.
Once all the pipes and fittings are fully installed, you need to make sure every thing is secure and tight, and most importantly waterproof. Make sure all lines are tested for leaks before you fill the hot tub with water. You may want to have it done professionally to greatly minimise the chances of electrocution.
When this is done, you can sit back and enjoy your newly installed hot tub.
